CONFERENCE PRESENTATION
Date: 16-18 November, 2017
The 2017 SFEE conference is organised jointly with the PLEIADE (EA7338) research group at the University Paris 13 with a view to exploring the History, traditions, and political or individual choices that drive Scotland.
Especially when compared to England, Scotland and the Scots have continuously claimed to be different - or they have been perceived as such. The papers presented at this conference and the discussions they will generate aim at undertstanding the underpinnings of that difference - why, from whom/what, whether or not it is a myth, and if it has been resisted. The conference will also present the delegates with the opportunity to question how this difference is expressed and to assess if it is part of the natural order or if conscious choices, informed by cultural and political circumstances, are at work.
